Pediatric dentistry is an age-defined specialty that provides both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs. Pediatric dentistry involves preventive dentistry procedures, restorative and endodontic treatments of deciduous and permanent teeth, prevention procedures of gum diseases, maintain of arch integrity by preventing tooth loss as a result of caries or trauma, early intervention for tooth development anomalies and malocclusions. However, primary goal in pediatric dentistry is to take measures to prevent problems from occurring rather than solving problems that appeared beforehand.
